Young Choreographers Showcase

Nov. 10th & 11th, 2018

Shoreline Ballet Studio 3

1795 Boston Post Rd

Guilford, CT

Shoreline Ballet is proud to present our second annual Young Choreographers Showcase! This is an opportunity for our students to present original work as part of a mixed bill, in-studio event. Students will present pieces alongside the Shoreline Ballet Student Company, Kathryn Contessa & Patrick John O’Neill, and Grace Rising Dance Theater by Christopher Campbell.

Any student in Level 5, 6 & 7 is welcome to apply. The application will consist of a short essay about why the student is interested in choreography and should include a description of the work the  applicant wants to create and how he/she plans to bring that vision to life. Applications will be reviewed by Shoreline Ballet faculty, and all applicants must prepare and present a sample of their choreographic ideas with music to a panel for further review.

The Young Choreographers will be chosen from the applicants, and they will be given rehearsal and studio time and a cast of dancers to work with. The pieces will premiere at the Showcase on Saturday, November 10th & Sunday, November 11th. Applications are due by Monday, Sept. 24th, 2018 and presentations will be held on Wednesday Sept.26th, 2018.

Any student in Levels 4 and above may volunteer for a chance to be cast in one of the works being created by the Young Choreographers. Each student who volunteers his or her time is required to participate in all studio rehearsals, technical rehearsals and the showcase performances. This commitment is required to ensure our student choreographers can successfully present their choreography.

Dates and times of all rehearsals will be announced soon. Shoreline Ballet hopes that all eligible students will participate in this wonderful opportunity to dance with their peers and showcase their choreography alongside talented and  accomplished professionals.
