Introducing New Faculty Member, Katherine Laskowski

We are thrilled to announce our new faculty member, Katherine Laskowski. Katherine brings a wealth of knowledge and love for teaching to the Shoreline Ballet family. Katherine will be teaching in our children’s division for ages 3-8.

Katherine Laskowski began her dance training at the age of three.  She studied under Jo Matos (Current director of Children’s Programming, Joffrey Ballet, NYC) at Connecticut Ballet Academy where she was a member of the Children’s Dance Ensemble, a traveling dance company for children.  She continued her training at the School of Hartford Ballet and later graduated from The Greater Hartford Academy of the Performing Arts, a magnet arts high school.

After high school, Katherine went on the receive Bachelor’s Degrees in Elementary Education, Special Education, as well as Behavioral Studies from the University of Hartford.  She also obtained a Master’s Degree in Reading and Language Arts from St. Joseph’s College.  During this time, Katherine continued to study many forms of dance under Douglas Bolivar at Trinity College as well as through The Hartt School.

Katherine has spent the last twenty years as an educator in various public school systems throughout Connecticut and has taught every grade from preschool to sixth grade.  While teaching she became certified in Autism Movement Therapy as well as in children’s yoga (Full of Joy Yoga/Radiant Child Yoga).  She worked as an intern with Sonia Plumb Dance Company’s program, Active Minds, Active Bodies, and completed classes in dance education at the Dance Education Laboratory in NYC. Most recently, Katherine started a studio for children and families that offers yoga as well as programming for children who have ADHD, Autism, or who are differently-abled, The Mind and Movement Project.

Katherine is thrilled to join the faculty of Shoreline Ballet.  She is excited to share her love of children and teaching as well as her passion for dance with the community!
